About

The Role

We are looking for a talented Modelling and Simulation Engineer to join our expanding design team. Working within the Air Vehicle Design team you will be conducting multi-disciplinary modelling and simulation activities. This will include aircraft performance analyses, air vehicle design support through flight dynamics modelling, control algorithms design and model validation through analysis of experimental test data.

Responsibilities
  • Interrupt project requirements.
  • Build model, simulate, and analyse aircraft performance and flight dynamics.
  • Implement flight simulation and visualisation test environments.
  • Present modelling analysis and simulation results, in meetings, conferences or through technical publications.
  • Maintain models to high standards
  • Gather and interrupt modelling data through bench/flight testing activities
  • Write technical documentation (technical specifications, model descriptions, test plans and test reports).
  • Assist the Team Lead to establish and maintain a library of reusable models / tools.
  • Interface with software developers, design and testing activities to understand modelling needs and fidelity required.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of technical solutions that meet business needs and manage business partner satisfaction relative to deliverables.
  • Mentor others within the team to deliver a consistent output.
  • Perform other design duties where required

Qualifications About You

Degree in a relevant domain (e.g. aerospace, electrical engineering, automotive, physics etc)

Essential Skills and competencies
  • Demonstrable experience in aerospace, automotive or other industrial sectors.
  • Proficient in use of Matlab/Simulink or a comparable modelling tool
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
  • Configuration Management experience in an engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of UAVs and common flight control systems
  • Strong experience with common flight simulation and visualisation packages
  • Experience with model validation activities
  • Experience with Solid Works or comparable CAD package
