The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

** Description of Work
** Salary Range: $37,782-$66,120    This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates.
Position performs journey duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems. Routine work assignments are in the nature of location of needed repair, and assignments involving work of special or unusual nature are accompanied by specific instructions. The incumbent exercises considerable independence in performance of routine work, but unprecedented assignments are usually discussed with or supervised by a foreman.

Work is reviewed by foreman through inspection of work in progress and on the basis of satisfactory operation of equipment repaired or installed.

Education and Experience
