Summary
Supervisory Supply Technician - Medical serves as the primary inventory supervisor for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. The role directs, supervises, and manages the primary inventory point that receives, stores, and issues supplies and materials for both clinical and administrative service areas of the medical center.
Qualifications- Driver's License Requirement: Current, valid state-issued driver’s license.

Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in federal service, demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Experience must be supported by the applicant’s resume and include month and year start/end dates. - Competencies: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical), Human Resources, Reasoning, Technical Competence, Technology Application.
Work primarily in a supply office and distribution points. Physical exertions include standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and pushing/pulling supply carts. Lifting supplies up to 50 pounds is required. Protective clothing is worn when delivering supplies into clean/sterile areas.
Duties- Major duties include planning work for subordinates, setting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
- Advises, counsels, and instructs employees on work and administrative matters.
- Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production.
- Provides guidance and evaluates work involving new, complex, or unusual situations without clear precedence.
- Oversees management and distribution of all supplies and material in the medical center, monitoring expiration dates, rotating stock, performing daily inventory, and resolving differences in records.
- Ensures supplies are unpacked and properly stored in inventory areas.
- Analyzes and resolves difficult issues and problems to plan effectively and render equitable decisions.
- Conducts market research on new products and ensures they are recorded in the automated inventory system.
- Works with vendor and contract staff on logistics issues and communicates with subordinate and clinical staff to coordinate logistics activities.
- Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm.
