Maintenance Technician

Westaff is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our client in Salisbury, MA!

1st Shift: 6:45am-3pm

Monday-Friday

The Maintenance Technician role supports the overall success of the plant through diagnoses and repair of the facilities machinery and infrastructure. As a member of the maintenance team daily activities
include response to breakdowns, implementation of PM’s on the facilities equipment and infrastructure systems, and grounds maintenance.

• Responds to breakdowns when requested by supervisor
• Properly diagnoses and repairs machinery and infrastructure systems.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM’S) on plant machinery and infrastructure systems.
• Keeps data entry on work orders accurate
• Helps to complete maintenance specific checklists
• Helps to ensure facilities Emergency Response Systems are in working order
• Maintains a personal toolbox and maintains a clean work area
• Upholds the highest regard to safe work practices
• Takes pride in own work and shares best practices with others
• Capable of completing PMs as described
• Capable of using all hand and power tools correctly and with correct PPE
• Capable of Lever blade and stone changes as well as adjustments
• Capable of ULMA plastic and lidding film changes
• Capable of rewinder and Lever calibration and machine settings
• Basic electric troubleshooting (Blown fuses, contactor function, relay function etc.)
• Understanding and support of the Maintenance daily/weekly checklists
• Capable of maintaining a clean and controlled work area (safety cones/tape)
• Capable of maintaining a positive attitude in taking direction and redirection of tasks
• Contributes to the stocking of parts and maintaining a clean shop area
• Capable of correctly filling out work orders and PM forms with accurate times and parts consumed
• Willing to engage in painting, cleaning, snow removal and other tasks related to upkeep of the facility.
• Capable of boiler and compressor resets (including air dryers)
• Any other duties assigned by supervisor
• All repairs are made in the proper fashion and are conducted with professionalism and in a manner that would be acceptable to a tradesman
• Manages toolbox in a clean and 5S compliant way

• Basic knowledge of hand tools
• Basic knowledge of power tools
• Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic system function
• Basic knowledge of chains, sprockets, gears
• Basic electrical knowledge (voltage, amperage, circuits)
• Ability to effectively communicate utilizing a 2-way radio
• Ability to maintain tools and toolboxes in an efficient manner
• Ability to execute Lock Out Tag Out according to machine postings and energy sources
• Ability to comply with all applicable company policies
• 3 months successful experience at the trainee level
• Ambition and Integrity in work focus and paperwork completion

• Experience completing PJHA’s or other risk assessment documents
• Vocational Training of any kind
• Machinery set up experience

• Strong interpersonal skills required
• Ability to safely function in a high paced environment
• Strong computer skills

• Safety Related hand tools (Guarding stick, tape measure, etc.)
