The Driver Trainer is responsible for training drivers to load, unload, and deliver dressed poultry, oil, hopper, drayage, and contract backhauls, along with other inbound and outbound products and materials to plants, customers, and distributors. The Trainer must be willing to train in both OTR and Regional Short Haul capacities.

• Train drivers on loading, unloading, and delivering products such as dressed poultry, meal, refined oil, contract backhauls, and other inbound and outbound materials to designated locations.
• Teach drivers to observe and maintain all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). including hours of service, logbook keeping, vehicle inspections, load inspections, safety inspections, and securing loads.
• Ensure drivers operate tractors and trailers safely, in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Train drivers on conducting pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and completing related reports as per company policies.
• Instruct drivers on completing all necessary company paperwork, including pay envelopes, overage, shortage, damage claims, and trip reports.
• Teach drivers to effectively use communication tools such as telephones, voice response systems, and satellite systems to communicate with customers, dispatchers, and supervisory personnel.
• Participate in ongoing safety and leadership training provided by Perdue.
• Act as a Brand Ambassador by monitoring drivers’ pre-trip and post-trip inspections and supporting PPE and dress code requirements.
• Support new hire orientation by facilitating training materials in both classroom and driver settings.
• Coach drivers as needed, conduct safety evaluations, and recognize safety hazards, addressing them with leadership.
• Ensure success through knowledge of safety information, regulations, and procedures, serving as a positive influence, mentor, and support to retain trainees.

Minimum education requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent.

• Strong training and mentoring skills with excellent communication abilities.
• Possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with at least 2 years of over-the-road experience.
• Risk Safety Score of 90+ points within 90 days.
• No active safety incident or accident points.
• No active safety seat belt or cell phone violations.
• OTD Delivery rate above 95% within 90 days.
