Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Support and communicate UNA’s Mission, Vision and Core Values while empowering clients to achieve greater independence in their employment decisions.
- Participate as an active team member in the implementation and reporting on progress for the client’s Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
- Identify and provide enhancement skills for meaningful and successful employment opportunities available to the client, as needed.
- Provide appropriate level of supports as defined by formal and informal assessments while giving assistance as outlined in the IPE for meaningful community based competitive employment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a positive relationship with employers who support our program.
- Support client in job readiness training to remove barriers and resolve issues for upward mobility and advancement opportunities with the employer.
- Complete job coaching progress notes, or any other necessary forms according to regulations and agency deadlines.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to assist with direct and indirect support and supervision when called upon to do so during the client’s hours of scheduled employment.
- Work with DORS clients on a job coaching fading schedule, with the ultimate goal of stabilization in their community – based employment.
- Keep an open line of communication with the Employment Specialist to ensure that individuals are stabilized and have appropriate job coaching or follow along authorizations in place.
- Provide Ongoing Job Supports and/or Follow Along Employment Services to DDA funded individuals, as authorized by their PCP.
- Support each client with developing natural supports and positive relationships within their workplace.
- Assist the individual with requesting reasonable accommodations, as needed.
- Be creative and innovative in your approach to each client.
- Other duties, as assigned.

Competencies:
Ability to establish and maintain professionalism with a cooperative relationship with those you work with. Interest in assisting people supported in the UNA Employment Program to achieve personal vocational outcomes of their choice and to provide them with Person-Centered Supports. Effectively send and receive verbal and written communication (including narrative report writing) using the English language, basic math skills, and basic computer skills.
Show willingness and ability to successfully complete and apply trainings in your position. Demonstrate your ability to be an effective team member always looking for what is best for the consumer according to their individual choice. Demonstrate the ability to capture progress and keep documentation current for program reviews. Be of good moral character and show a willingness to support ongoing character building in those you support.
Position Status
:
Full-Time, non-exempt. The Job Coach is assigned over a period of time defined by each individual’s program and dependent upon the level of supports needed for a given community work environment and schedule of each client.
UNA office hours are M-F 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Core hours will vary according to the needs of each client.
Flexibility in schedule is a must in order to accommodate employer, employee, training needs and completion of documentation required for UNA’s Employment Program.
Requirements
Qualifications: Degree in Human Services or related field preferred or commensurate experience, experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities a must, complete all agency and DDA trainings before working with a consumer, maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid, maintain valid Driver’s License with good driving record and show proof of Auto Insurance Coverage, and pass a Criminal Background Check and Drug Test.
