Position Description

Torque by Ryder is immediately hiring a permanent full‑time experienced mid‑level mobile diesel technician to support our truck fleet in Salisbury, MD.

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay: $39.00 per hour
  • Retention Bonus: $2000 paid every quarter within the first year
  • Schedule:

    Flexible 40‑hour work week (weekend premiums apply) Tuesday‑Saturday

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires)
    • Diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems)
    • Advanced skilled repairs including major engine repairs, diesel after treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Non‑Commercial Driver License CLASS E preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • Other state driver's license as required
  • Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
  • Able to take home assigned mobile service truck, as applicable, and secure vehicle and contents
  • Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles
  • Ability to understand and adhere to company policies; complete repair orders; build and maintain professional relationships; work independently and as team; prioritize workload; demonstrate customer service, account management, communication skills; show flexibility, self‑starter, multitasking, organization, time management; detail‑oriented; entrepreneurial spirit; complete required maintenance certifications within specified timelines; complete two OEM on‑line diagnostic tool courses as required by location fleet mix
  • Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including previous employers drug and alcohol verification for last 3 years)
Responsibilities
  • Interact with customers; exhibit account management skills; facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss new repair estimates independently.
  • Coordinate work schedule as required by customers; road test vehicles; ensure quality of repair work and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repairs, including but not limited to:
    • A/C & Heater operations and PM checks
    • Brakes‑Air inspections, repairs, and maintenance per BA298
    • Brakes‑Hydraulic inspection and repairs per BH298
    • Cargo handling, liftgate operations
    • Charging system checks
    • Clutch maintenance
    • Cooling system maintenance
    • Cranking system inspections
    • Lighting system and accessories repair
    • Drive axle and driveline maintenance
    • Engine and fuel system upkeep
    • PM (PM298) tasks, including various supplemental procedures
    • Steering, axial, and alignment checks
    • Suspension‑chassis and cab maintenance
    • Tire and wheel maintenance per TW298
    • Vehicle coupling system (PM) maintenance
    • Use shop management system and electronic documentation; comply with federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of service, safety, and environmental records to meet requirements.
  • Accountable for key maintenance measurements per company policy.
  • Act as a mentor for SM II level.
