Meteorologist

WMDT is seeking a dynamic Meteorologist to join our weather team. Must be a community-minded, strong weather storyteller with the ability to multi-task and work hands-on in broadcast news.

• The Meteorologist will be responsible for providing accurate and timely weather forecasts, and effectively communicating weather-related information to our diverse audience
• Monitor weather conditions, analyze data to provide timely and precise weather updates and alerts
• Collaborate with news team members to fact-check weather information integrated into news broadcasts and other programming
• Publish easy-to-understand forecasts online
• Maintain a strong social media presence by regularly posting weather updates, forecasts, and relevant content across various platforms to engage and inform the community
• Participate in community events in and out of the station, educational programs, and public speaking engagements to promote weather awareness and preparedness within the local community
• Coordinate and engage with our network of weather watchers

Degree in Meteorology preferred but will consider related experience. Strong communication skills are required. Must be flexible with schedule. Knowledge of the Weather Company/WSI equipment preferred but will train the right individual.

Three-year contract:
Wage range: $32,000 to $45,000/year, minimum 40/hrs. week, overtime possible, but not guaranteed.
