Certifications:

- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification will be obtained during orientation

Must-Have:
- Current RN license
- BLS certification

Description:

Patients admitted to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) have actual or potential acute care needs that require continuous monitoring.
The primary patients admitted to PCU need less care than standard intensive care but more than what is available on telemetry or medical-surgical units.
The PCU RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process.
The RN acts as a patient advocate.
The RN provides support, information, and direct care.
The RN utilizes equipment and technology skillfully and is technically competent in nursing procedures.
The Registered Nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues.
The inventory and delivery of medications may be required.

The work schedule may involve day, evening, or night shifts or a combination as per departmental policy.
The RN is scheduled off at least three holidays per year and is required to work weekends as needed.
Occasional overtime may be expected.
