This position will assist customers in an informative and professional manner by performing a variety of clerical functions in the Environmental Health and Vital Records departments. This includes general office duties such as answering a multiline telephone, data entry, copying, scanning and filing. The role also requires a working knowledge of a wide range of community services and Environmental Protection programs, and issuing birth and death certificates for Vital Records.
This position is designated as emergency essential.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Two years of experience performing clerical duties.
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.
- Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non‑commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with office procedures and equipment.
- Experience with critical thinking and problem solving.
- Experience communicating effectively and providing customer service to internal and external customers.
