Accounting Manager

• Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
• Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP and accrual accounting standards.
• Maximize the functionality of accounting platforms to streamline workflows, enhance reporting, and reduce manual effort while maintaining strong internal controls.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports in coordination with the VP of Finance.
• Implement, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure policy compliance.
• Coordinate and support external audits; serve as the primary accounting liaison for annual audit activities.
• Conduct internal reviews and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
• Support tax preparation and filing activities, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and continuous‑improvement‑oriented team environment.
• Stay current on changes in GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5‑10 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Significant experience in accounting or financial management; nonprofit, governmental, or regulated entity experience strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Quick Books Online, Salesforce, and similar platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience coordinating audits and working directly with external auditors.
• Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and governmental accounting standards is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight.
• High ethical standards, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
• Must be located in commutable distance to Salisbury, Maryland, United States.
• CPA or MBA.

Expert Level

This is a Contract position based out of Salisbury, MD.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $68.00/hr.
