Overview

Our Saline plant is currently seeking a 3rd shift Injection Molding Technician to join our team. The Molding Technician will be responsible for the set-up and testing of one or more injection molding machines that mold thermoplastic materials.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure all mold tools are properly set, pulled out of the molding machines in an expeditious and safe manner, and placed neatly in their proper storage area and be able to troubleshoot any complex install issues.
  • Ensure that all auxiliary items are maintained, fast heat controllers are functioning properly and that all mold setup positions and limits are correct upon completion of mold installation.
  • Adjusts and documents molding conditions such as temperature, pressure, feed, times, etc. to correct complex deficiencies in part quality.
  • Perform setup of robotic automation to ensure product quality and machine uptime are maximized and waste is eliminated as well as troubleshoot complex issues in the process.
  • Responsible for changing, servicing, and repairing end of arm tools (EOATs) and loading robot programs at mold change. Must also perform all necessary robot program changes.
  • Write robot programs and build EOATs for new and existing programs.
  • Adheres to all lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Ensures that the applicable portion of the First Piece paperwork is completed.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily records of tool changes and logging pre-heats of mold tooling on the applicable file and/or log.
  • Ensures the process tracking sheet is completed for each job that is currently running (each shift).
  • Coordinates daily priorities with the Production Supervisor, Team Leader and Central Load on press start up, shutdown, and mold change priority as well as communicate daily issues to next shift Mold Technicians.
  • Ensures that cycle times are correct as recorded on the applicable process sheet and process is running within the defined limits.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in all aspects of the continuous improvement process.
  • Ensures all mold tools are properly cleaned, before start up and after shutdown, and sprayed with rust preventative prior to removing the mold from the molding machine.
  • Operate Forklift, Overhead Crane, and Aerial Lifts as needed.
Skills/Competencies
  • Maintain a team-oriented working environment that allows for individual differences and provides for individual growth.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, policies and procedure manuals, and operating instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including P.C. knowledge and current technology software familiarity.
  • Intermediate understanding of machine and equipment PLCs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Problem Solving Capabilities –both numerical and mechanical.
  • Ability to use various types of tools, including volt meter and equipment necessary (manual, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Mechanical ability; advanced maintenance tools and techniques, affected and/or authorized Lock Out/Tag Out process knowledge
  • The ability to properly document work performed.
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Central Loading Technician.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write robot programs and build EOATs.
Referred Experience/Education
  • 3 or more years previous experience as a process technician with injection molding experience .
