Project Manager - HCAI /OSHPD - Salinas/Monterey Area
Title: Project Manager - HCAI / OSHPD
Location: Salinas / Monterey Area (Onsite required)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary Range: $124,499 - $169,499 USD
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a HCAI/OSHPD-regulated hospital retrofit project in the Salinas/Monterey area. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of healthcare construction experience and be based close enough to manage the site effectively. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven ability to deliver complex projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Must Haves
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in all phases of construction
- Proven experience managing healthcare construction projects under HCAI/OSHPD regulations
- Based within commuting distance to the Salinas Valley Health site or willing to relocate
- Strong understanding of contract terms, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Demonstrated ability to manage project risk, safety, and quality
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Ability to manage and maintain complex schedules and budgets while ensuring project delivery
- Previous experience with QSP, SWPPP, LEED, and sustainability programs
- Familiarity with Plan Grid, Revit, Sketch Up, AutoCAD, Primavera, Navisworks, or Viewpoint
- Experience in proposal development, client presentations, and business development
- Participation in community engagement, trade shows, or industry conferences
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or project staff
- Background in managing multiple projects or fast-paced retrofit environments
- Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial spirit and a proactive problem-solving mindset
- Knowledge of California construction compliance and permitting processes
- Oversee tactical project execution from pre-construction through closeout
- Lead internal teams and trade partners to achieve project delivery on schedule and within budget
- Ensure consistent quality and craftsmanship across all phases of the project
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost controls, manpower plans, and financial forecasts
- Coordinate project scheduling in partnership with superintendents and trade partners
- Manage subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and owner contract obligations
- Foster a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with jobsite safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve issues
- Implement quality control and environmental management plans
- Conduct regular risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Lead project buyout efforts in collaboration with estimating and executive teams
- Supervise and mentor project engineers, coordinators, and accountants
- Represent the company in meetings, interviews, and proposal presentations as needed
- Ensure full understanding and enforcement of contract provisions and notice requirements
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
