Legal Secretary

Are you an experienced Legal Secretary seeking a new opportunity in litigation support? Our well-established law firm in Salinas, CA is hiring a Legal Secretary to work desk-side with our litigation attorneys. This is a contract-to-hire role and in-office full time, perfect for candidates who excel in high-volume environments and have proven litigation experience. Primary Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and format legal correspondence, motions, subpoenas, and discovery documents

+ File and serve documents in California state courts and federal courts utilizing electronic platforms (including PACER)

+ Schedule and coordinate hearings, depositions, and important deadlines for attorneys

+ Maintain well-organized electronic and paper case files

+ Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, court staff, and external parties

+ Coordinate exhibits, witness lists, and documents for trial preparation and proceedings

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Minimum 2-3+ years' experience as a Legal Secretary in a litigation practice

+ Demonstrated expertise in drafting and editing legal documents and correspondence

+ Familiarity with California court rules and procedures, and electronic filing systems

+ Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills

+ Comfort with legal software, document management platforms, and calendar management tools

+ Associate degree, certificate in legal studies, or comparable work background preferred
