Mechanic, Engineering

We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Parts and Equipment Department, supporting our Sales, Equipment, and Engineering teams. This role offers hands‑on experience with Plant Tape transplanters and related systems, providing an opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components. The ideal candidate will assist in equipment preparation, operation, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal in‑field performance.

Location:

Salinas.

• Assist the Equipment Manager in all aspects of the department, including parts inventory, module and transplanter repair, maintenance, assembly, engineering projects, and prototype testing.
• Gain a thorough understanding of Plant Tape transplanters and modules.
• Maintain a clean, functional workshop for building, repairing, and servicing

• Help manage spare parts and equipment inventory.
• Support customer parts orders, including packaging, delivery, and shipment.
• Understand customer‑specific needs and configure planters and modules accordingly.
• Assemble modules and assist with preparation, testing, and pre‑delivery inspection (PDI) for outgoing machinery.
• Collaborate on testing and implementation of new machinery and parts improvements.
• Source local parts and assist with fabrication for engineering and equipment projects.
• Identify weak points in the Plant Tape system and contribute to improvement initiatives.
• Provide basic maintenance and operation training to customers.
• Recognize and address potential safety hazards to prevent injuries.

• Current college student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering,Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of agriculture is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in ag‑business or a related field (preferred)

• The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds unaided.
• Employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand.
• This employee works in indoor as well as outdoor environment subject to moving mechanical parts.
