Under supervision of the On-Site Administrator of the Monterey County Home Charter School, the Home Independent Study Teacher will serve as an educational facilitator/monitor to parents who have chosen to educate their children at home and who have enrolled them in the Monterey County Home Charter School.
Requirements / QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
Appropriate California Teaching Credential — Multiple Subject OR — Single Subject OR — Ed Specialist credential - Possess an appropriate California operator’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicle and be insurable
- Skills and Abilities:
Ability to travel to off-site locations - Ability to interact with and maintain cooperative relationships with all levels of staff and the public
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both orally and in writing

- Experience working with “home schooled” students
- Have the ability to analyze curriculum for content, depth, and correlation to State curriculum guidelines
- Willingness to develop and share materials with parents and other teachers
- Enthusiasm and a true empathy for individual student needs
- Ability to communicate effectively in the Spanish language both orally and in writing
- Special Education background
All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a CTC-approved agency to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Transcript Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
