Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Alternative Education or Alternative Education Principal, the instructor develops and implements a Career Technical Education (CTE) instructional program for students assigned to Alternative Education Schools. The role includes assisting in the development of CTE pathways, tracking CTE outcomes, participating in advisory board and committee meetings, ensuring that CTE coursework meets labor‑market and employer needs, and integrating student leadership and apprenticeships with core curriculum to meet the 12 essential elements of highly effective CTE programming.
Requirements/ Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
: - Education:
Must qualify for a Career Technical Education Teaching Credential authorizing teaching in the Transportation Industry Sector; or a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential; or a valid California Single Subject Credential with required authorization to teach in the area of assignment. - Knowledge:
Designated Career Pathway in sufficient depth and breadth to develop and implement instructional programs, including internships, utilizing local agencies and local businesses;
California Career Technical Education High‑Quality Standards and Curriculum Standards; safe practices in classroom, laboratory and shop/studio activities and working environment;
State Education Code, local, state and federal laws, codes, regulations and requirements, and county office organization, operations, policies and objectives as related to assigned activities and/or instructional area. - Certifications:
CPR/First Aid Certification. - Documentation:
Letter of Introduction and Resume.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of recent professional experience related to the designated pathway or CTE course.
- Demonstrated experience with the 12 Essential Elements of Highly Effective CTE Pathways.
- Training in behavior management.
- Knowledge of and experience in the methods and equipment required for virtual teaching.
- Experience in developing individualized instructional learning plans.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a third party; the evaluation must be attached to the application.
- NOTE:
This position is grant‑funded.
