Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Salina, KS — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.
Key Compensation & Bonuses- Hourly Pay: $33.40 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday - Hours:
First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance and basic diagnostics and repairs
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
- Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Support duties such as Service Island support as needed
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days and required OEM scan‑tool courses within 365 days
