Diesel Mechanic Technician First Shift

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Salina, KS — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

• Hourly Pay: $33.40 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days

  First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance and basic diagnostics and repairs
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Support duties such as Service Island support as needed
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days and required OEM scan‑tool courses within 365 days
