About This Role

The Staff Assistant/Mentor will provide supervision of the TRIO Upward Bound (UB) participants during the K-State Salina Upward Bound summer program. The Upward Bound Summer program is June 8 - July 17, 2026, and the residential portion of the summer program is June 8
- July 2, 2026, on the Salina campus. The Mentor will facilitate small group activities and events and supervise TRIO Upward Bound participants residing on campus during the residential summer program.

About Us

Upward Bound is a campus-based TRIO program designed to assist area high school students with additional academic preparation, advisement, and encouragement to succeed in high school and later in college. The mission of Upward Bound at Kansas State Salina is to prepare scholars to persist in post‑secondary education by promoting lifelong learning and instilling the ideals of achievement in all aspects necessary to succeed collegiately and personally.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed at least 2 college academic years by June 1 (junior, senior, graduate student or relevant experience) with at least a GPA of 3.0 and no academic problems, probation, or expulsions.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must attend the 1‑day training on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
  • Must live in the residence hall during the summer program (June 8-July 2, 2026).
  • Day Shift staff must assist with community service and college visits during residential program.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record.

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
