We are hiring substitutes in Salina Public Schools. No previous experience is required!

Substitute teachers may also be referred to as substitute educator, guest teacher, or relief teacher. Substitute aides may also be referred to as paraprofessionals, education technicians, teacher’s aide, instructional assistant, classroom assistant or education assistant.

- 18+ years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Fingerprint background check
Substitute Pay Rates:
- Teacher, including Special Education and Librarian: $15.89 per hour
- This includes anyone that holds a Kansas Emergency Substitute License
- Certified Teacher, including Special Education and Librarian: $19.49 per hour
- This includes anyone that holds a Kansas Educator License or Standard Substitute License
- Paraprofessional and Clerical: $14.42 per hour
- Long-Term Substitute Teacher: $21.68 per hour
A long-term substitute position is an assignment that extends over a longer period, providing consistency as you report to the same school and team each day. These roles can include teachers, paraprofessionals, food service staff, custodians, nurses, clerical positions, and more. Long-term assignments often come with a higher pay rate compared to day-to-day substitute jobs. Instructional positions may include extra responsibilities such as lesson planning, grading, or participating in school meetings, while other roles may involve taking on additional duties within their department or area.
Long-term positions typically become available when a staff member is out on leave or a vacancy exists within the district.
Job Description (s):
- Assume duties of the district employee in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies
- Empower students to learn, and encourage classroom participation
- For long-term teacher assignments, it may be required to develop lessons plans, as well as build, administer, and grade tests and assignments
