Progressive Care Unit - PCU RN - Travel Nurse

We’re looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Salem, VA. The right RN should have 1–2 years recent acute care experience.

As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but aren’t unstable enough to require ICU care. Progressive Care Unit RNs monitor cardiac and other vital information using computer equipment, detect changes, and enable intervention in life‑threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes through IV lines that may need adjustment.

• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever monitoring data shows adverse symptomatology.
• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.

• ACLS, BLS certifications.
• 1–2 years recent acute care experience.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend/lean/stoop without difficulty.
• Capacity to lift up to 20 lb routinely, up to 50 lb when needed.
• Good stress‑coping skills and ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
