Position: Sr. Day Warehouse Manager

Overview

Sr. Manager, Warehouse will ensure a warehouse culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through engagements with warehouse leaders and associates, best in class service to customers, and safe and profitable operations. They will use their expertise in managing warehouse operations to develop warehouse managers and ensure the safe, accurate, and timely receiving and storage of inbound product or selection and loading of outbound product, while ensuring the safety and security of the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achieve safety, service, and cost targets in the warehouse. Lead with a safety mindset to keep every US Foods associate injury-free; champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create a safety-first culture.
  • Oversee and develop Warehouse Managers through one-on-one coaching, policy training, problem resolution, and leading by example.
  • Oversee and develop warehouse associates by discussing performance with Warehouse Managers, creating improvement plans, driving engagement and retention, and upholding US Foods values.
  • Create a cohesive organization by maintaining open lines of communication and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements, monitoring interviewing and hiring of warehouse personnel, reviewing performance, coaching for productivity and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary action when needed.
  • Develop production flow processes and identify process improvements and cost-reduction strategies. Establish and maintain procedures for verifying incoming shipments, handling and disposition of product, inventory accuracy, and selecting/loading shipments.
  • Identify and eliminate waste and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
  • Approve operation plans for daily loads with Warehouse Managers; ensure loads are completed within timelines, meet weight restrictions, and accommodate special customer requests.
  • Monitor operational data, including inventory losses, production goals, and safety reports; identify problems, determine causes, and recommend changes to the VP of Operations to achieve high accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and ensure integrity of products and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Oversee maintenance of warehouse facilities and equipment in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • In union facilities, assist HR and the VP Operations with interpreting the collective bargaining agreement, administering discipline, settling routine grievances, and participating in arbitrations as required.

SUPERVISION
  • Direct:
    Warehouse Managers, union and/or non-union warehouse clerical staff (Operations Clerks, Warehouse Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, etc.)
  • Indirect:
    Union and/or non-union warehouse on-floor associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift drivers, etc.)
RELATIONSHIPS
  • Internal:
    Warehouse leaders and coworkers;
    Transportation leaders;
    Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
  • External:
    Vendors
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as
-5 degrees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in warehouse supervision required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
  • Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control systems is a plus.
Travel

10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.

Education/Training
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    HACCP certification a plus; PCQI certification a plus.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to perform the following physical activities for described length of time:

  • Stand, Walk, Drive Vehicle, Sit as specified; see original details for frequency.
  • Lift, Carry, Push/Pull, Climb/Balance, Stoops/Squat, Kneel, Bend, Reach Above Shoulder, Twist, Grasp/Manipulate/Muscle Dexterity as required; frequencies vary by task.

This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
