Assistant Dean of Nursing

Dean of Nursing Position Summary
The assistant dean of nursing provides academic, administrative, and operational support to the dean of nursing in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of nursing programs. This role supports accreditation compliance, faculty development, curriculum oversight, and student success initiatives while ensuring alignment with institutional mission, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities – Academic Leadership & Program Support- Assist in oversight of nursing programs (BSN, ASN, PN).
- Support curriculum development aligned with professional nursing standards and guidelines, and state regulations.
- Participate in curriculum committees and program evaluation.
- Support distance education, simulation, and instructional technology initiatives.
- Assist with self‑study report for programmatic accreditation, evidence room, and site visit preparation.
- Support program systematic evaluation plan (SEP) and continuous quality improvement (CQI) data collection and analysis.
- Monitor compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with faculty onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation.
- Support faculty development and teaching effectiveness.
- Serve as a faculty resource for academic policies and course delivery.
- Collaborate to support student retention and success.
- Assist with academic concerns and appeals.
- Support student orientation and program communication.
- Assist with scheduling and course assignments.
- Support policy and handbook development.
- Participate in meetings and committees.
- Teaching load is assigned on a case‑by‑case basis based on program census and course complexity, not to exceed four nursing courses per term.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate degree in nursing (MSN required).
- Current unencumbered RN license in the United States.
- Minimum two years of nursing education teaching experience.
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Doctoral degree in nursing or related field.
- Administrative leadership experience.
- Programmatic accreditation experience.
- Experience with online nursing education.
- Knowledge of professional nursing standards.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and support CQI.
- Proficiency with academic technologies.
Academic and administrative setting; remote or hybrid work possible. Evening or weekend responsibilities may be required.
