- Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates; take appropriate action if needed.
- Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate managers of items needing repair.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
