Position: High School Summer Learning Opportunity (QC Lab) - Riverbend Materials (Eugene, OR)

Position Overview

Our paid internship program provides a rich and rewarding hands on learning experience and the opportunity to learn about our organization. Our high school interns work under the close direction of an experienced supervisor/manager in our quarries to test aggregate and asphalt building materials to ensure they meet our high-quality standards.

Wage: $20/hr

Internship Duration: Summer 2026 (Approximately June 26th - September 1st)

Essential Functions
  • Learn Quality Control methods and reporting procedures.
  • Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.
  • Learn paving process and density control.
  • Work to understand aggregate processing and quality conformance.
  • Assist with testing materials in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Identify and become familiar with various mix specifications requirements.
  • Communicate with other technicians regarding mix specifications and test results.
  • Report and communicate test results ethically, adhering to the company's Ethics Policy.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be available to work approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical skills, including basic algebra.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Must pass post offer pre-employment controlled substance testing & physical exam.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions while observing various jobs.
