Hiring two temporary positions with the anticipated duration of March 30, 2026 through June 26, 2026. These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project’s control.
Note:
Effective Feb. 1, 2026, the compensation plan for this position will be increased to reflect a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5%. The salary listed in this posting does not reflect the COLA.

- Conduct daily trap checks at several rotary screw trap sites to enumerate and sample juvenile salmon and steelhead in the Sandy River basin
- Drive a State-issued vehicle to remote sampling sites near Zigzag, OR
- Follow protocols to record fish data
- Identify, measure, weigh, and mark juvenile salmon and steelhead
- Inspect, maintain, and repair field sampling equipment and trap components
- Work a flexible schedule that varies in daily hours and may include weekends; primarily field work in and around streams; position can be physically demanding

QualificationsWhat We Are Looking For:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
- Experience maintaining and repairing field equipment
- Data entry experience
- Experience identifying and enumerating juvenile salmonids
- Experience operating rotary screw traps
- Anyone who has or is pursuing a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences
