Job Description: Hiring a seasonal position with anticipated duration of March 1, 2026 – May 31, 2026. These are estimated dates. Length of season(s) may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project’s control. The compensation plan includes a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.5% effective Feb. 1, 2026; the salary listed in this posting does not reflect the COLA.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor marine mammal predation of ESA listed salmon and steelhead and white sturgeon
  • Monitor marine mammal foraging behavior and feeding activity in a 1.5-mile reach downstream of the falls
  • Quantify total predation-related losses in the specified fish runs
  • Data entry, summary and tabulation of data, and relaying data to the supervisor

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however, we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:

  • Experience collecting and recording data
  • Field observation and monitoring experience
  • Experience identifying fish species (especially salmon, steelhead, and sturgeon)
  • Experience identifying different pinniped species
