Monday–Friday, 32.5 hours/week

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting. Using American Sign Language (ASL), the interpreter ensures students have full access to classroom instruction, activities, and learning discussions.
Minimum Requirements- Proficiency in American Sign Language
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field preferred
- State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or above or national certification
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable)
- Must also be licensed through DOH
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
- Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
