Job Description:

This limited duration opportunity is scheduled to last through December 31, 2028 or when the program is completed. We will also consider filling this position as a job rotation assignment for current state employees. To apply as a job rotation candidate, you must be currently employed by the State of Oregon (regular status, trial service, and limited duration employees) and have written approval from your manager/supervisor prior to applying.

Please note the job posting displays the full-time salary amount. This is a part-time position, and the salary will be prorated based on a 20-hour per week work schedule. Leave accrual and insurance rates will be adjusted proportionally for part-time employees

The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.

This position is with the Division of Financial Regulation (DFR). DFR’s mission supports that of the department by protecting Oregonians’ access to fair products and services through education, regulation, and consumer assistance. The division is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of financial institutions, the availability and affordability of financial products, and the fair treatment of consumers. Functions include licensing, regulating, and monitoring the conduct of banks, credit unions, financial services providers, health care service contractors, insurance companies, and licensed or registered agents of such entities.

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible to telework on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.

Here’s what you will do:

As an Affordable Housing Specialist, you will serve as technical support to grant applicants. You will assist applicants with questions on how to apply and provide guidance by researching, interpreting, and analyzing the requirements of SB 829 to ensure the legislation is accurately implemented throughout the program.

Here’s what you need to qualify:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years experience coordinating or administering a program
  • OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.
