We are seeking a Fiscal Grant Analyst to join our Office of Finance and Information Technology (OFIT) at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office.

WhatYou Will Do!
In this role you will act as a grants analyst for fiscal issues on grants issued by the department, and maintain locally generated tracking spreadsheets and other documentation. This position supports the fiscal aspect of ODE’s grant programs. Workload and priorities fluctuate and can involve highly complex, sensitive, and/or political issues. A highly visible and shifting environment; expect constant interruptions and reprioritizations to meet service needs.
The Fiscal Grant Analyst coordinates with program offices on the status of grants and produces reports on overall effectiveness of grants, including amounts made available, amounts expended, and overall impacts achieved. You will be a key partner in providing technical assistance and consultation to ensure all applicable state and federal rules are followed and will need to display effective customer service and communication skills.
A Typical day would include:
- Research, analyze, and implement federal and state fiscal rules and regulations.
- Execute department fiscal grant plans and policies.
- Participate in the implementation of department and inter‑departmental systems, programs, or processes.
- Provide information used to forecast federal revenue and costs.
- Prepare grant budget to actual reports for analysis and discussion.
- Create the financial master grant file including the grant award, spending plans, profile setups, and guidance from federal and state partners.
Five years of progressively responsible experience that included the preparation, analysis, and administration of a budget or fiscal system.
OR
Five years of professional‑level experience in accounting, fiscal auditing, management or program analysis. Experience must have included modeling, forecasting and analyzing fiscal information.
OR
Successful completion of the Department of Administrative Services Budget and Management Public Administrative Trainee Program.
