** STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
** Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being.

In performing this mission, the BIE takes into account the spiritual, mental, physical, and cultural aspects of school-aged children within their family and tribal community. To meet its trust responsibility to Indian Tribes, BIE works to strengthen education opportunities for American Indian students to be successful and competitive globally; to enhance student participation in their tribal communities; and support tribes in nation-building, in development of the next generation of tribal leaders.

Responsibilities:

Program parameters to include environmental sustainability, business, or industry in relation to agriculture science.

Program focus is to prepare students for a diverse post-high school education and training opportunities, including direct employment, apprenticeships, and college programs in agribusiness, biotechnology, food products and processing, natural resource systems, and animal biological systems.

Work assignments require full responsibility for independently performing teaching methods to individual differences among students with ease and flexibility. However, a problem of deep-seated or highly complicated or specialized nature does require guidance or review of plans for individual teaching. The plan is carried out independently.

Conducts classes and or other types of learning situations using the daily lesson or unit plan as a guide, deviating as necessary to accommodate to time limitations and interruptions in the schedule of classes to give added illustration to important points, bring in new information, or adjust to particular interests on a group and individual basis. Organizes classes into groups to meet student needs, interests, and capacities.

Instruct students through classroom discussion, demonstration, audio-visual aids, laboratory and field trips.

Studies prescribed course objectives, texts, teaching aids and other pertinent material and develops daily lesson plans with the appropriate breakdown of subject matter and designing specific instructional units. Determines the presentation of curricula, methodologies, and assessment procedures and records maintenance.

Determines the timing and method for use of available films, filmstrips, and other training aids and devices appropriate to the subject. Adapts teaching units to the environment, culture and needs of the student. Develops daily learning packets for small and/or individual students, including methods and techniques to be used in an individualized instructional program.

Organizes and selects materials so that each child's achievement proceeds with order. Plans and develops activities that permit child to achieve his greatest potential without frustration. Helps…
