JOB INFORMATION
As a member of the Biology program serving a diverse community, this full-time faculty member will be responsible for teaching biology courses that reflect equity and inclusion while meeting course and programmatic outcomes.
Responsibilities of this position will include teaching assignments at Chemeketa Outreach Centers, at the discretion of the collaboration with current program members, new faculty will continue the program's efforts to bring experiential and lifelong learning to a diverse group of students.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Program Responsibilities
* Maintains timely communication with college program and supervisor
* Stays current on program goals, processes and outcomes
* Participates in program assessment and college accreditation
Instruction
* Teaches classes as assigned, following current approved course outlines
* Meets during scheduled class times
* Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes/labs according to program expectations
* Provides students with class syllabi
* Delivers course content using appropriate methods for student needs and program curriculum
* Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online
Teaching and Learning Values
* Creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness
* Encourages creative and critical thinking
* Engages participants in an active learning process
* Facilitates learning that applies to and enriches lives
* Encourages student responsibility for learning

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree (MS) in Biology or closely related biology field
* ----OR-----
- Master's of Science (MS) in Biology-related field, with at least 24 quarter credit hours of graduate-level coursework in biology, including graduate-level research (lab or field-based)
Core Competencies
* Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
* Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience teaching in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online
* PhD in Biology or closely related biology field
* Strong background in mammalian anatomy, physiology, microbiology or related fields
* Experience teaching at the community college level
* Experience using active learning in a higher education setting
* Experience or training in current biology issues
* Experience working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
* Bilingual English/Spanish
