Salem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston MA offering a rigorous college preparatory program to nearly 500 students in grades 6-12. - Salem Academy seeks an excellent special education paraprofessional who is committed to raising student achievement through the integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the next
- Special Education Paraprofessional at SACS will be responsible for the following in addition to other duties as assigned by their manager:
- Working with and for Students:
Supporting students in the classroom depending upon their IEPs and instructional needs; implementing consistent academic and behavioral procedures to ensure a structured, respectful and achievement-oriented environment across classrooms; monitoring and analyzing student progress through standards-based assessments; supporting planning and/or co-leading Service-Learning projects - Working with and for Colleagues:
Collaborating with Special Education, General Education and ELD teachers to support students with diverse learning needs; building and maintaining strong school culture centered on achievement; tracking academic and behavioral data; participating in weekly professional development sessions (e.g., Curriculum Teams workshops); participating in weekly Form Meetings (e.g., grade level teams)
- You are a skilled educator. You have an ability to connect and build relationships that accelerate outcomes for a diverse student body.
- You understand the importance of culturally responsive education and are committed to learning more.
- You are committed to standards based teaching and are unapologetically focused on student work to build student-centered learning; respond, reactively and proactively to the academic and social-emotional needs of students; have a proven track record of supporting all students and their unique learning needs; demonstrate a relentless commitment to working collaboratively to improve outcomes for students with diverse backgrounds.
- You value inclusivity, collaboration with colleagues and school leadership; are caring, committed and collaborative with colleagues and school stakeholders.
- Education:
High school diploma required;
Associates degree or 48 college credit-hours or passing score on Parapro preferred. - Background clearance:
Required
Preference will be given to candidates that meet all of the requirements above and:
Are multilingual including in Spanish and English;
Have similar life experiences as our students;
Excitement about integrating academics with service work;
Interest in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all students.
