This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly complex specialty hospital at a pivotal moment of transformation. Oregon State Hospital (OSH) is a 31-unit, Joint Commission–accredited, CMS-certified public psychiatric hospital serving some of Oregon’s most vulnerable and underserved populations. The Superintendent role offers the ability to make a lasting, system-level impact by stabilizing operations, strengthening clinical quality and safety, and advancing patient-centered, recovery-oriented care.

OSH provides the scale and resources necessary for meaningful executive leadership, including a $425 million annual operating budget ($850 million biennium), two campuses, and an enterprise workforce of approximately six (6) direct and 2,800 indirect staff. The incoming Superintendent will build upon the foundation established by a successful interim leader and will have the opportunity to lead the hospital into its next phase of operational maturity and organizational effectiveness.

This role is well-suited for a senior healthcare executive who is motivated by complex challenges, public service, and equity-driven outcomes. In addition to competitive executive compensation and benefits, the position offers the opportunity to live and work in the Pacific Northwest, with access to diverse outdoor recreation, cultural amenities, and a high quality of life.

We evaluate candidates based on their own skills and experience. Unless explicitly approved, outside resources – including Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools – are not permitted during assessments or interviews. Use of unauthorized resources will disqualify a candidate from further consideration.
