Note: We are committed to fostering a supportive work environment that promotes work‑life balance and flexibility. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working in the Portland office approximately 2–3 days per week.

Here’s What You Will Do
  • Direct and coordinate regional business retention, expansion, and recruitment.
  • Support regional and state industry sector strategies.
  • Conduct company visits to build relationships, provide support, and track assistance/results.
  • Develop partnerships with communities and align projects with regional strategies.
  • Support business deals through negotiations and manage state commitments.
  • Promote agency programs via presentations, events, and partner outreach.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop projects leveraging grants/loans across funding agencies.
  • Ensure applications meet program criteria and oversee contracts, disbursements, and monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and five years professional‑level evaluative, analytical and planning work.

OR

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to eight years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.

Requested Skills

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of some or all the following skills. If you have these requested skills, let us know in your application materials! It’s how we will choose who will move forward! You do not need to have all these skills to be eligible for this position.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing regional economic development strategies based on analysis of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • Experience in facilitating collaboration between public and private sectors (utilities, transportation, financial institutions, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of and hands‑on experience guiding public and private organizations through financial assistance programs, including state, federal, philanthropic, and private funding sources.
  • Experience in developing and analyzing proposals for economic development and advising leadership on strategic options and projected outcomes.
  • Experience representing an organization in complex, multi‑agency meetings, regional commissions, and coordination with Governor’s Office staff.

We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a less traditional background. We encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every one of our requested skills listed.
