Overview
Professional level sales position capable of supporting advanced functions on the commercial side of the business. The role is responsible for the profitable growth of the commercial business through customer retention and expansion. The position partners with the General Manager to manage team members and requires expert knowledge of automotive systems and parts, sourcing from special order, FDO, second source, and other suppliers.
The role directs drivers to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Full‑time position.
- Maintain commercial customer relationships
- Provide GAS2 selling experience to commercial customers
- Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives
- Provide day‑to‑day supervisory support for Team Members
- Collaborate with the GM on coaching and developmental needs for Team Members
- Dispatch drivers ensuring delivery standards are met
- Maintain commercial stocking programs
- Build and maintain a network of secondary source suppliers
- Maintain core bank and commercial returns
- Maintain commercial credit accounts
- Partner with the GM to ensure proper driver coverage
- Friendly communication
- Ability to locate and stock parts
- Safety knowledge and skills
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment
- Parts and automotive system knowledge skills
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems
- ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
- Advanced solution, project, and product quality recommendation ability
- Ability to source from multiple channels
- Advanced selling skills for commercial customers
- Ability to multi‑task and remain organized
Job Skills Necessary for Success as a Commercial Parts Pro
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic abilities covering internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively to build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals; write simple correspondence
- Understand and execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
- Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Understand commercial profitability concepts, including competition, market opportunities, and customer prioritization; may work with the Commercial Account Manager to determine pricing discounts for specific commercial customers
- Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Minimum 3 years of prior automotive parts experience preferred.
Proven sales ability with experience in fulfilling customer transactions.
Formal or informal experience leading teams, supervising daily tasks, and working collaboratively to achieve goals.
EducationHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsASE Certification Preferred, but not required.
Physical DemandsPredominantly walking or standing; required to talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily inside; occasionally outside and exposed to weather conditions while installing batteries and wiper blades. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. Noise level usually moderate.
Compensation19.95 USD per hour – 21.95 USD per hour.
Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
