Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse for a long-term assignment. The RN will provide specialized post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia following a variety of surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, the ability to monitor patients during the immediate recovery phase, and experience working with diverse patient populations.

Bed Count: 34 beds

Average Census: 30–40 patients per day

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1 RN : 2 Patients

Key Responsibilities

Provide post-operative nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia.

Continuously monitor airway, breathing, circulation, and neurological status.

Assess pain levels and administer medications as prescribed.

Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams.

Educate patients and families regarding recovery and discharge instructions.

Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of PACU or critical care nursing experience.

Active Massachusetts RN License.

Current AHA

Certifications:

BLS (Basic Life Support)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Experience with EPIC EMR preferred.

Additional Information

No on-call requirement.

No night shifts.

Floating not required.

Occasional rotation to day shifts may be required based on unit needs.
