Location: Salem, MA

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (04/19/2026 – 07/18/2026)

Shift: Day Rotation (36 or 48 Hours) | Rotating between 07:00–19:30, 11:00–23:30, and 19:00–07:30.

Job Summary

Seeking a versatile and experienced L&D/Postpartum Registered Nurse. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a "full-spectrum" maternal-child health environment. You will be responsible for patients through the entire birthing journey—from admission in the Antepartum Unit (ANU) to active labor, OR circulation for C-sections, and recovery in the Postpartum and Newborn Nursery units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active Labor Management: Provide 1:1 care for patients in active labor, including those requiring Epidurals or Magnesium sulfate infusions for preeclampsia.
  • Surgical Excellence: Circulate in the unit’s 2 dedicated ORs for both scheduled and emergency Cesarean sections.
  • Newborn & Postpartum Care: Manage mother-baby couplets (1:3–4 ratio), providing lactation support, newborn assessments, and postpartum recovery.
  • High-Acuity Monitoring: Assess and manage patients in the ANU (Antepartum) rooms for complications such as preterm labor or pregnancy-induced hypertension.
  • EMR Documentation: Maintain precise, real-time documentation within the Epic system.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of current L&D experience.
  • Skill Set: Must be proficient in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Care (NBN), and OR Circulation.
  • Licensure: Active Massachusetts State RN License.
  • Certifications: * BLS (AHA) – Required.
    • NRP – Required.
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Required (must be renewed every 2 years).
    • ACLS (AHA) – Highly Preferred.
Unit & Facility Details
  • Unit Name: S-Birthplace Labor & Delivery (SH1322).
  • Bed Count: 25-bed total unit (5 L&D rooms, 12 PP rooms, 2 ORs, 2 RR, and 2 ANU rooms).
  • Patient Ratios: * L&D: 1:1 (Active/High-Risk) or 1:2–3 (Evaluations).
    • PP: 1:3–4 couplets.
  • Floating: No floating required outside of the maternity service line.
  • Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) and 1 night of call per schedule period.

  • Shift Flexibility: 36 or 48-hour options are available. Note that per Union Agreement, "Day Rotation" involves primary days with mandatory rotation to evenings and nights as needed.
