Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn position in Massachusetts requiring MA licensure and strong perinatal skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 25-bed Labor & Delivery unit with integrated Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, and surgical suites
Unit features 5 L&D rooms, 12 Postpartum rooms, 2 ORs, 2 recovery rooms, and 2 antepartum rooms
Patient population includes mothers in labor, postpartum patients, and newborns
Clinician-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3 in L&D for evaluations, 1:1 for active labor or patients on magnesium/epidural, 1:3-4 in Postpartum
Average daily census is 15-25 patients (mothers, babies, labors)
Uses Epic EMR, experience preferred
Night shifts, 12 hours (19:00-07:30), with every other weekend required
No floating required
Responsibilities include providing care throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, circulating during procedures, and newborn care
No holiday or time off requests except as noted at time of application
Local candidates must live at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital to qualify for the standard rate
Scrub color or dress code will be provided prior to assignment
Parking may incur costs, and public transportation is encouraged
ACLS certification is preferred but not required
Extensions subject to adjusted pay rates
First-time travelers are not specified as eligible
Requirements
Active MA RN license, no pending or conditional licenses accepted
Minimum 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum required
Current BLS certification from AHA (Red Cross accepted at some facilities)
NRP certification required
Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (NCC, K2, or AWHONN; renew every 2 years)
Primary source verification of all licenses and certifications
Flu vaccine required without exception
