Job Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, the role assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and eating. The position also assists with taking patients’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
Essential Functions- Performs vital signs, weighs/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame or as requested.
- Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
- Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
- Helps patients with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toilet use, and feeding.
- Assists patients with turning, repositioning, and moving between bed and wheelchair when needed.
- Listens to patient health concerns and reports to nurses.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred
Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) preferred
Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred
Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (Massachusetts) preferred
Nursing Assistant (LNA – New Hampshire) preferred
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
