Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Technician
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
  • ARRT, RCES, or RCIS certification
  • Current ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid state‑licensed Radiologic Technologist
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
  • Additional certifications or licenses may be required.
Summary

The Cath Lab Technologist assists in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, operating imaging and monitoring equipment, and ensuring patient safety.

Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures.
  • Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and monitoring systems.
  • Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs.
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols, use lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in English, reading/writing, and following verbal instructions.
  • Computer skills and PC proficiency.
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend; stay in a sterile field.
  • Interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation during procedures.
  • Mental resilience to frequent contact with patients and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good visual acuity and effective communication.
