Opportunity Overview

North Shore Community Health (NSCH) is an industry leader in delivering exceptional community healthcare. We are seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) for the Salem Family Health Center. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager, the MA will support physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health professionals, and nurses during patient visits with administrative, clinical, and laboratory duties. The MA will take a proactive role in ongoing duties and continually improve processes.

Essential Functions
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Screen patients per protocol (e.g., vitals, urine testing, hematocrits, vision testing, blood pressure, PHQ-9).
  • Prepare paperwork for referrals and provide translation services as needed.
  • Obtain tests and set up procedures per the MA competency checklist.
  • Perform tasks in the EMR as listed in the MA competency checklist.
  • Participate in orders, hospital discharge, and ER tracking.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, maintain sterilization statistics, and manage inventory.
  • Perform quality assurance tests as necessary.
  • Answer phone or EMR messages; contact patients via letter, telephone, or portal to schedule visits.
  • Maintain HIPAA‑compliant medical records and confidentiality.
  • Copy and fax documents as needed.
  • Manage durable medical equipment requests; assist with visiting nurse referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Perform additional duties to fulfill NSCH’s mission as assigned.
  • Complete NSCH-required compliance training before the deadline.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Experience as a CNA, EMT, phlebotomy technician, or other related medical field.
  • Current or willingness to complete Basic Life Support (CPR) training.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility with work assignments and ability to float among sites, including occasional telework.
  • Spanish or Portuguese bilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Current vaccination against pertussis, tetanus, and COVID‑19.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GE Centricity is a plus.
