What You’ll Do

Elementary school teachers are responsible for preparing all students for personal and academic success. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a high‑quality program for all students. The elementary teacher will effectively manage a partnership with families, including regular communication informing families of students’ success toward mastering content and personal learning habits. The elementary teachers will participate in ongoing professional learning to deepen knowledge of rigorous, engaging curriculum and pedagogy in both academic content and social‑emotional learning.

Role

Responsibilities
  • Analyze data to inform instruction and improve student performance
  • Work collaboratively in environments including co‑teaching and intensive skills development
  • Collaborate with school personnel, parents and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, plan curriculum, collect data and create Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students
  • Certification in Wilson, Orton Gillingham, LiPS, or other phonics‑based reading program
  • Experience implementing reading comprehension programs
  • Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence
  • Prepare students for success on state testing
  • Modify/adapt materials and instructional lessons to meet the specific needs of students
  • Provide classroom staff with resources, tools, and modeling of techniques
  • Present evidence of student progress toward goals and objectives through regular progress reports & team meetings
  • Offer activities and instruction that will allow students of all levels to successfully engage in instruction using the Common Core standards as a framework

  • Bachelor's Degree Required;
    Master’s Degree preferred
  • Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities Pre‑K–8) and Elementary Education (Grades 1–6)
