Genetic Production Technician; Swine Tech

Acu Fast is looking for a keen individual who is thrilled to join us in creating the future of pork production. We are currently looking for a part-time Genetic Production Technician at our finishing site Timmerman, working 15-20 hours per week and every other weekend.

Timmerman is located in Centralia, IL, 60 miles southeast of St, Louis, Illinois. Surrounding communities are Carlyle, Centralia, Salem, and Mount Vernon. The successful candidate would ideally live in the surrounding areas, but foreign recruits are welcome to apply as we hire through the USMCA. These positions are responsible for general farm tasks to ensure the welfare and well-being of our animals.

• Work as a team player by accomplishing specific department duties and farm goals
• Ensure proper health, handling, and comfort of boars and gilts, i.e.: daily health checks and monitoring/maintaining proper ventilation
• Weigh, sort, handle, and move pigs
• Sort and load market animals
• Complete minor maintenance tasks to ensure feed and water systems are working properly
• Power wash empty pens and prepare rooms for animal entry
• Keep accurate records on all animals as requested, i.e.: pig identification
• Work safely and wear appropriate PPE while performing all job duties
• Ensure all staff and visitors follow the barn s biosecurity protocol
• Assist with maintaining barn, office cleanliness, and laundry duties
• Performing other general farm duties as required

• Self-motivated, reliable and a team player
• Outstanding organization and communication skills and demonstrates attention to detail
• Able to manage priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
• Driver’s license and ability to work weekends
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to lift 50 lbs
• Willing to work in a production facility and walk/stand for long periods
• A college certificate or other specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry with 1-2 years of experience would be an asset
• Proficient in English communication is preferable
