Kids’ Harbor, Inc. is a child advocacy center servicing the Central Missouri Region for over 20 years. The Kids’ Harbor Counseling Program uses a team of professionals to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment to child victims of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, children who have witnessed violence, children who are drug endangered, and/or providing services to youth demonstrating problematic sexual behavior.Summary:
This position is responsible for community collaboration, counseling services, and group counseling connected to trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment interventions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES Client Services:- Provide direct and indirect services to children who have been victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse, children who have witnessed violence, and children who are drug endangered. Provide caregiver support by providing informed care connected to child services.
- Targeted based treatment for child victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse, crisis counseling, utilizing best-practice, trauma-focused treatment modalities.
- Treatment for youth with problematic sexual behavior, crisis counseling, utilizing best-practice, trauma-focused treatment modalities.
- Assessment and evaluation of counseling needs, including pre and post assessment tools.
- Development of treatment plan(s) with individualized goals and objectives.
- Provision of individual and “family unit” therapy modalities.
- Provide support groups and psycho-education groups for children that have victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse, have witnessed violence or are drug endangered, and/or youth with problematic sexual behavior, and their safe caregivers.
- Serve on Kids’ Harbor’s Multidiscipline Teams, and as a consultant to team members as may be required and/or needed.
- Submit/offer referrals for other services or resources.
- Coordination/consultation with other agencies when and where ethically appropriate.
- Provide treatment planning, case management and documentation, and follow-up of cases including support calls, networking with other agencies, and coordinating services.
- Establish a therapeutic setting in which the environment is conducive to meeting the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children we serve.
- Maintains client files according to federal law, State of Missouri, the National Children’s Alliance, The American Counseling Association, and Kids’ Harbor’s documentation standards.
- Develop and integrate group therapy for child abuse victims, children with problematic sexual behavior, children who are drug endangered, or witnesses of violence and their safe caregivers.
- Integrate evidence-based treatment interventions into clinical processes.
Collaboration:
- Participate in any legal/judicial and administrative proceedings when required and in accordance with professional standards of conduct.
- Participates in peer review, group supervision, and individual supervision of cases as needed.
- Participates in professional development and training specific to youth with problematic sexual behavior, evidence-based treatment, and continuing education through workshops, online training or in person training opportunities.
- Participates in program planning and problem solving, attends and participates in multidiscipline case review meetings.
- Maintains a productive and working relationship with multidisciplinary team members.
- Participation in performance and quality improvement activity is required by each employee.
- Therapists are expected to assist other employees, including practicum and intern students by sharing experience, expertise, and training.
- Attend annual agency functions, special events, and meetings as necessary and appropriate.
- Remain abreast of issues and current research related to child abuse and neglect, youth with problematic sexual behavior, and trauma informed, evidence-based counseling modalities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
