DESCRIPTION: This position provides social services to assist in rehabilitation of juvenile law offenders in custody or on probation. Responsibilities include recommending actions for rehabilitation plans and treatment, including conditional release and education/employment stipulations. The incumbent supervises staff, coordinates work, reviews progress, and assesses performance.

STARTING SALARY
: $1,936.22 Bi-Weekly (Internal promotion rules may apply: start at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher).
ELIGIBILITY

This is an INTERNAL AGENCY OPPORTUNITY for CURRENT DJJ EMPLOYEES ONLY.
- Case Management / Reviews – manage inquiries from youth, family, victims, law enforcement, courts, or department staff; assign cases to staff; conduct case reviews; initiate contact with youth/family/victim/law enforcement; use Motivational Interviewing; review and document detention/intake screenings and risk/needs assessments; facilitate assessments and referrals; formulate case management strategies; ensure service referrals and follow-up; approve supervision and treatment recommendations to judicial partners;
ensure safety planning discussions with youth and family. - Court Process – act as DJJ representative in court, testify when needed; ensure department recommendations are supported by gathered information; certify case files reflect current histories and reports; provide policy information to staff; review dockets; communicate court outcomes to all affected parties; request assistance from Office of General Counsel when needed.
- Supervision & Case Management – conduct case reviews to ensure proper screening/assessment; negotiate and implement case plans with youth/family; require face-to-face contacts in various settings and hours; maintain adherence to departmental requirements; assist with mental health/substance use evaluations; verify access to community resources; support transition planning; participate in staffing with mental health, schools, law enforcement, courts; provide crisis intervention as needed;
coordinate transportation planning when necessary; monitor progress and adjust plans to meet court and policy requirements. - Records Management – maintain JJIS case documentation; ensure data accuracy; manage referrals and data reporting; maintain photographs and documents in JJIS; coordinate with schools, providers, and community partners; support grant and program development through community resource knowledge.
- Leadership & Staff Development – supervise staff, assign workloads, develop training plans, participate in audits and committees; provide leadership on initiatives; deliver trainings; manage performance measures; ensure staffing coverage including non-traditional hours; oversee hiring, transfers, promotions, and related People First requirements; ensure incidents are reported according to policy; participate in pilot projects when assigned.
- Records & System Knowledge – maintain JJIS data quality; assist with data for statistics; ensure timely entry of documents; support information sharing with schools, care providers, and community partners.
- Special Notes – JPO Supervisors work non-traditional hours; CPR/First Aid certifications required; ensure accessibility of resources for staff; adhere to drug-free workplace requirements; comply with fingerprinting/background checks; obtain required certifications within specified timelines; complete Ergometric’s IMPACT Assessment if applicable.
- Knowledge of case management practices and interviewing/counseling techniques.
- Ability to counsel, make recommendations on delinquent youth processing/ disposition, and coordinate work assignments.
