• Fire pump knowledge
  , including:
  • Pump types (electric, diesel, vertical turbine)
  • Troubleshooting pump performance issues
  • Understanding controllers, jockey pumps, and pump curves
• Ability to read and interpret plans
  , shop drawings,
• Ability to travel to job sites in FL, GA, NC, SC, AL, and Puerto Rico
• Strong installation skills for wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and standpipe systems.
• Understanding of system acceptance testing
  , inspections,
• Crew management
  : assigning tasks, maintaining productivity, mentoring apprentices.
• Scheduling and coordination with GCs, other trades, inspectors, and project managers.
• Quality control
  : ensuring installations meet code,
• Conflict resolution
  : handling job-site issues without slowing the project.
• Understanding of NFPA standards
  , especially NFPA 13, and 25 is a Big Plus.
• OSHA knowledge and ability to enforce safe work practices.

• Threading machines, groovers, fusion tools, lifts, and rigging.

• Daily reports, material lists, change orders, and RFI creation.
• Keeping accurate as-built information.

• Reliability and strong work ethic.
• Ability to train and develop apprentices.
• Problem-solving mindset—especially under pressure.
• Confidence in making field decisions while knowing when to elevate issues.
