Job Description SummaryAs part of a 24/7 proprietary security team, the Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment at Raymond James. Responsibilities include physical security, electronic access control, visitor management, CCTV, and life safety systems. The role involves constant interaction with associates and guests, delivering a Service 1st approach with a concierge feel. The officer follows established procedures for routine tasks and receives guidance for non‑routine tasks, exercising independent judgment in new and unusual circumstances.
They resolve most questions and problems and refer new or unusual issues to appropriate personnel. Assignments may include posts, patrols, rounds, security desks, and more. The schedule fluctuates week to week and requires flexibility to work designated hours during a seven‑day work week, including weekends.
- Authenticate personnel and maintain a secure environment.
- Physical and electronic security, access control, and CCTV monitoring.
- Patrol assigned buildings and grounds to deter criminal acts.
- Monitor associate and visitor movements; conduct vehicle and parking inspections.
- Investigate and record reported incidents and report safety and fire hazards.
- Support nighttime associate escorts as requested.
- Assist motorists stranded on property, using discretionary judgment to determine course of action, including changing tires, jump‑starting batteries, or unlocking vehicle doors.
- Respond to medical emergencies and serve as a member of the fire control and emergency evacuation teams.
- Issue and assign building keys and security access cards.
- Assist with special events and recommend amendments to security procedures to management.
- Follow established procedures for handling workplace threats such as bomb or terrorist threats.
- Ensure security incidents are properly documented and reported.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

- Incidents involving acts of terrorism, bomb threats, fire safety, theft, sabotage, and other acts of workplace violence.
