Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Business Development Manager is responsible for aggressively marketing the J.B. Hunt brand to develop new accounts and secure an established customer base. The incumbent evaluates customer transportation requirements and proposes customized transportation solutions from J.B. Hunt’s product offerings, targeting mid‑level and higher revenue accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct lead generation activities for new and incremental business, including cold calling, networking, and other opportunity prospecting methods.
- Identify and secure new customer relationships through strategic, consultative selling; manage a dynamic pipeline and meet with prospects virtually and in‑person to understand their needs, develop tailored solutions, and close deals.
- Regularly travel to prospective customers to conduct in‑person presentations and build rapport with key stakeholders.
- Facilitate contract negotiations and pricing discussions while ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations.
- Stay informed of industry trends and adjust sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Create and deliver compelling presentations tailored to customer needs, emphasizing value propositions to decision‑makers.
- Coordinate with internal teams and the customer to implement the solution, including participation in project kick‑off.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2–3 years of sales or customer service experience, with at least 1 year in North American truckload transportation (or military equivalent).
- Demonstrated skills in accuracy, attention to detail, effective communication, trust building, flexibility, problem solving, product knowledge, and sales closing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Experience in sales management (2–3 years).
- Experience working in transportation or logistics.
- Self‑motivated with strong phone communication skills.
- Ability to develop future‑oriented sales plans and maintain healthy client relationships.
- Strong analytical ability and understanding of customer activities and market opportunities.
Salary range is based on skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The role may be eligible for annual bonuses and incentives in accordance with company policy.
