Overview
This position is responsible for supplying Fiber and/or Copper cable to support the production work cells by performing the duties involved in receiving, stocking and issuing cable. This position works under moderate supervision. This is a night shift position, working Monday through Friday from 3:30pm to 11:30pm.
Responsibilities- Supports production work cells by pulling and cutting all cable materials necessary to complete shop orders
- Measures and cuts cable to required length using hand tools and/or cable cutting machine
- Communicates with cell lead and assemblers to determine schedule of work for pulling materials
- Systematically issues raw material to work orders
- Organizes material racks as needed for optimum efficiency
- Responsible for cable inventory accuracy
- Performs periodic cycle counts of cable material
- Complies with all established safety procedures and policies
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Must have the ability to operate a forklift truck
- Ability to take an active role in recommending and implementing continuous improvements in production
- Ability to use judgment related to identifying potential safety hazards
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
- This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, production assembly machine operations, and/or walking and assisting production employees
- Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn
- Eye and foot protection may have to be worn
- The lifting of weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis
- There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures
- The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination
- May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Minimum three months related experience and/or training
